Does this save the original size, or the small thumbnail I see on Pinterest?
The original size. Pinterest's feed shows a small grid thumbnail, usually capped at 236 or 564 pixels wide, to keep pages loading fast, but the platform separately keeps the full file a pin was uploaded as. VideoCatch requests that file directly, so what downloads is the same image Pinterest's own three-dot Download option would give you, at full resolution.
Why is the saved file so much bigger than what showed on my screen?
Your screen was showing a compressed thumbnail, not the file itself. On a pin we checked, the grid copy Pinterest serves at 736 pixels wide was 12 KB, while the original behind it was 3840 by 2160 pixels and 177 KB. That gap is normal: Pinterest keeps small renditions for speed and stores the full file separately for anyone who requests it directly.
Does this work on carousel pins with several images?
Yes. A carousel pin returns every slide as a separate image at its own original size, listed in the order the creator arranged them, each with its own Download button. Download all packs the whole set into one zip file inside your browser, so a pin with ten slides does not mean ten separate clicks unless you actually want them.
What about Idea Pins or collages with several pages?
Those work the same way as a carousel. Pinterest retired the Idea Pin format in favor of collages, a multi-image pin type built from the same kind of slides, and VideoCatch reads it the same way: one image per page, each at original size, with the same Download all option for the whole set.
Can this download images from a private or secret board?
No. Pinterest's Help Center states it directly: only the board owner and anyone they invite can see a private board's pins. VideoCatch never logs in on your behalf, so it only ever reaches what a signed-out visitor could open. A secret-board pin fails here the same way it fails for anyone without an invite.
How do I get a saved image into Photos on an iPhone?
Tap Download in Safari and the image usually lands in the Files app, since that is how iOS handles a direct image download by default. To put it in Photos instead, long-press the image after it saves and choose Save Image, or open it from Files and share it into Photos from there.
Am I allowed to reuse a Pinterest image I download?
Saving a copy for personal reference is ordinary browser behavior. Reposting, selling or crediting someone else's photo as your own is a copyright question that has nothing to do with which tool saved the file. A pin often links back to the original photographer or shop, so checking that source before reusing an image anywhere public is the safer habit.
Do pin.it short links work the same as a full pinterest.com link?
Yes. pin.it is Pinterest's own link shortener, and it redirects to the same pin as the full pinterest.com/pin/ address. Paste either one to download Pinterest images the same way. A link copied from the Pinterest app's share sheet is almost always a pin.it link, so this is the common case rather than an exception.
Which pins the Pinterest image downloader can save
Anything a signed-out visitor could open on pinterest.com works: a single-image pin, a carousel pin with several images, and a collage, the multi-page format that replaced Idea Pins. Board pages, profile pages and search results all lead back to the same pinterest.com/pin/<id>/ link the Pinterest image downloader actually reads, so copying from any of those places works the same as copying the link from inside the pin itself.
Regional domains resolve the same way. Pinterest image downloader quality: original size versus the grid thumbnail
Pinterest names its renditions by pixel width: 236x and 564x are the two sizes most feeds use, 474x and 736x appear in search results and close-ups, and orig is the file behind all of them, capped only by whatever the uploader submitted. We confirmed this by reading a live pin's own data directly: the same image was available at 236, 474, 564 and 736 pixels wide, plus a full 3840 by 2160 original, all filed under one pin ID.
VideoCatch always requests orig. That means file quality depends entirely on what the original uploader submitted to Pinterest, not on anything this tool decides. A pin sourced from a phone photo comes back at whatever the phone shot, and a pin sourced from a small web graphic comes back exactly that small; there is no upscaling here, only the largest copy Pinterest actually has on file.
Pinterest's own publishing guidance recommends a 2:3 aspect ratio, or 1000 by 1500 pixels, for a standard pin, uploaded as a PNG or JPEG under 20 MB from a browser or 32 MB from the app. That is guidance for pin creators, not a hard limit on what gets stored, so an original pin can turn out smaller, larger, square or landscape depending on what the uploader actually sent in.

Saving Pinterest images on iPhone, Android, and desktop
The file downloads straight from your browser to Pinterest's content delivery network, so what happens after you press Download is your browser's own save behavior, not something this site controls.
- iPhone and iPadTap Download. Safari saves the image into the Files app by default. Long-press the image once it has saved and choose Save Image to move it into Photos, or share it there straight from Files.
- AndroidTap Download and Chrome saves the file to the Downloads folder with a notification. Open that notification, or use Move to, to file the image into your Gallery app.
- DesktopClick Download and most browsers save the image directly. If yours opens the picture in a new tab instead, right-click it and choose Save image as to name and place the file yourself.
