Will the downloaded Reddit video include sound?
Reddit often stores video and audio as separate streams. Whether your downloaded file contains sound depends on whether the third-party service successfully merges the tracks, and whether the original post included audio.
Can I download videos from private or restricted subreddits?
No. The third-party downloader can only access posts that are publicly viewable without authentication. Posts requiring login, private community access, or age confirmation may not be retrievable.
Does VideoCatch store my video or select its resolution?
No. VideoCatch does not store, re-encode, or host any media files. The URL validation occurs on this page, while SaveMP4 handles video processing, audio merging, and file delivery.
Can I download an external video linked inside a Reddit post?
No. Posts that link out to third-party platforms such as YouTube or news websites do not host video on Reddit servers. Use a downloader dedicated to that host platform instead.
How are crossposts handled?
For crossposted content, the third-party downloader attempts to retrieve the media from the original source post. If the original post has been removed or set to private, the file may be unavailable.

Copying a direct Reddit post link
On desktop browsers, copy the address directly from your browser bar while viewing the discussion thread, or click Share underneath the post and choose Copy Link. Standard, old.reddit.com, and new.reddit.com addresses are all accepted.
In the official Reddit app, tap the Share icon on any post and select Copy link. This often creates a shortened link containing /s/ or a redd.it path, both of which are recognized by our format check.
Ensure the link points to a post with native Reddit video rather than an image gallery, text-only discussion, or an outbound link to an external video site. When dealing with a crosspost, copying either the crosspost or the original thread URL is acceptable.
Audio tracks, video formats and playback
Native Reddit videos utilize DASH streaming, which serves video and audio as separate files. The third-party downloader attempts to stitch both streams together into a single file so you can watch with synchronized sound.
If the original video was uploaded without sound or as an animated GIF, the resulting file will likewise contain no audio. File resolution and container formats are determined entirely by what was originally uploaded and what the provider supports.

If the link or embedded window fails
If our form reports an invalid link, confirm that you pasted a full post URL containing /comments/, /s/, or a valid redd.it path. General subreddit or profile addresses will be rejected.
If SaveMP4 opens but cannot process the link, the post may have been deleted, restricted by moderators, or marked with age restrictions that require an active login. Third-party extractors cannot access content behind authentication screens.
