How to use the RedNote video downloader
VideoCatch is a free RedNote video downloader. RedNote is the English name of 小红书, which also goes by Xiaohongshu in pinyin, and all three refer to the same app. One thing sets this page apart from the others here: the link has to come from the Share button rather than from your browser's address bar. RedNote signs each shared link with a short-lived xsec_token, and a note link without that token is refused by RedNote itself, for every visitor and every tool alike. Paste an xiaohongshu.com/explore/… or xhslink.com/… link exactly as the app copied it and the rest is the usual: VideoCatch reads the public note, lists the encodes RedNote serves, and your browser downloads from xhscdn.com.

Why does the link have to come from the Share button?
RedNote signs each shared note link with a parameter called xsec_token, and its servers check that token before returning the note. A link you typed by hand, or one copied out of the address bar after the token expired, is answered with an error page rather than the note. This is RedNote's own gate and it applies to every visitor equally.
How long does a RedNote link stay valid?
Long enough to paste it, and a good deal longer: a token minted from the app was still working a quarter of an hour later in testing. It does expire eventually, and when it does the fix is to open the note again and copy a fresh link. Nothing is wrong with the note or with this site when that happens.
Does this work for photo notes?
Yes. A photo note lists every photo in note order at the original resolution RedNote stores, rather than the resized WebP the app shows. Each has its own Download button, and Download all packs the whole note into one zip in your browser. Video notes list the video; the cover is the thumbnail, since it is a frame of the video.
Is 小红书, Xiaohongshu or RedNote the right name?
All three name the same app. 小红书 is the original Chinese name, Xiaohongshu is its pinyin spelling, and RedNote is the English name that spread when the app picked up users outside China in 2025. This page answers to all of them, and RedNote links from any region resolve the same way.
Why the link has to come from the Share button
Every other platform on this site hands out a link that works for anyone who has it. RedNote does something different: a note link is signed with a short-lived xsec_token, minted at the moment the app builds a share link, and its servers check that token before they will return the note at all.
The effect is easy to recognise. A note link with a valid token returns the note. The same link with the token removed, with an expired token, or with an invented one is answered by a redirect to an error page carrying the code 300031, and RedNote makes no distinction between those three cases. That is why this page asks for the shared link rather than guessing.
This behaviour was tested against a plain request, against a request disguised with a browser's own TLS fingerprint, and against a real browser opening the address cold. All three were refused in exactly the same way, and all three succeeded once the token was present. The gate is the token and nothing else.
In practice the ask is small, because the Share button is how most people copy a note anyway. Tap the share icon, choose 复制链接, and paste. The xhslink.com short link the app produces carries the token on the far side of one redirect, which VideoCatch follows for you.
What a RedNote video downloader can and cannot reach
Public video notes, which is the large majority of what gets shared. A note opened from a share link resolves whether it came from the recommendation feed, from search, or from a creator's profile, and the note's own page carries the video, the cover image, the caption and the author's name in one response.
Photo notes list their photos, in order and at full size. A note that has been deleted, or one from an account that has been made private, is refused by RedNote before VideoCatch sees anything, and no setting here changes that. VideoCatch holds no RedNote account and asks for no password, which is the point.
Livestream replays and anything behind the in-app paywall sit on a different system that this tool does not touch. If a note plays for you only inside the app, a RedNote video downloader working from the public web cannot reach it either.
Both link shapes the app produces are accepted: the long xiaohongshu.com/explore/ form, the older /discovery/item/ form that still resolves, and the xhslink.com short link. Links copied from a profile page, which put the note id after the user id, work as well.
Quality, size and saving on each device
RedNote publishes its own encode ladder in the note's page data, so the sizes listed here are read rather than guessed. Each row carries the exact pixel dimensions, the average bitrate and the byte size that RedNote itself records for that file, and the largest is preselected. A typical note offers one H.264 encode; longer or higher-resolution uploads add more.
Because the byte size travels with the note, the figure appears immediately rather than after a round of requests to the content delivery network. It is the same number the servers report when the download starts, which we checked against a ranged request on the file itself.
The download runs between your browser and xhscdn.com, RedNote's own content delivery network. It enforces no referrer and no user agent check, so the file plays inline on this page before you commit to saving it, and the transfer never passes through VideoCatch.

- iPhone and iPadTap Download. Safari opens the MP4 in its player rather than saving it, which is iOS behaviour. Tap the Share button at the bottom, then Save Video, and the file lands in Photos.
- AndroidTap Download. Chrome writes the file to the Downloads folder and shows a notification; Move to or Share from there puts it in Gallery.
- DesktopClick Download and the file saves. If your browser plays it in a new tab instead, right-click the Download link and choose Save link as. RedNote's filenames are long hashes, so rename it while you are saving.
