How to use the TikTok video downloader
VideoCatch is a free TikTok video downloader for public posts. Paste a link that looks like tiktok.com/@username/video/ followed by a long numeric id, and VideoCatch reads the post the way a signed-out visitor sees it, then hands back the file TikTok's own player streams: the MP4, without the watermark stamped across TikTok's app export, whenever TikTok exposes that clean rendition. Short links from the share sheet, vm.tiktok.com and vt.tiktok.com, resolve to the same post, so there is no need to open the app and hunt for the long URL first. A TikTok photo carousel comes back the same way, with every image listed at full size and a button to download all of them as one zip. People type this search as TikTok to MP4 or as wanting to download TikTok videos in bulk, and both land on the same tool underneath.
- Tap Share on the TikTok video or photo post, then Copy link. On desktop, copy the address straight from the browser bar instead.
- Paste the link into the box above.
- Press Download to save TikTok video files straight from TikTok's own CDN, with no app or account needed.
TikTok video downloader FAQ
Does the watermark come off in the download?
It returns whatever rendition TikTok's own server exposes for that post. TikTok's app export carries a watermark, and a separate rendition often does not. When TikTok makes that clean file available, it is the MP4 you get, so this is a TikTok without watermark download in the ordinary case, with no editing performed on this end.
What quality do TikTok videos download in?
Whatever TikTok stores for that post, most often around 1080 by 1920 pixels for clips filmed and edited for the vertical feed. Older or re-encoded uploads sometimes come back smaller. VideoCatch does not resize, recompress, or upscale anything, so the pixel dimensions and file size shown on the page are read straight from the file TikTok serves.
Can I save a TikTok photo carousel?
Yes. A TikTok photo carousel post is listed image by image at full size, with a Download button on each photo and a Download all as zip button that packs the whole set in your browser. The carousel's background audio plays back on TikTok itself but is not exported here as a separate file.
Why does a private account's video fail to download?
VideoCatch only sees what a signed-out visitor sees, the same as opening the link in a private browser tab. A private account, a video the creator restricted to followers, and a deleted post are all out of reach for that reason, and the tool fails quickly rather than pretending to find something a logged-out visitor never could.
How do I save a TikTok video to Photos on an iPhone?
Press Download and Safari opens the MP4 in its player instead of saving it directly, which is normal on iOS. Tap the Share icon at the bottom of the screen, then Save Video, and the file lands in the Photos app. iOS 18 and later also lets you long-press the playing video and choose Save to Photos.
Is it legal to repost a downloaded TikTok video?
Downloading a public video for personal viewing is different from reposting someone else's TikTok video on another account, which needs the original creator's permission under copyright law regardless of the tool used. VideoCatch hands back the file TikTok already serves publicly. Checking that against TikTok's terms and the creator's wishes is the downloader's own responsibility.
What is a vm.tiktok.com or vt.tiktok.com link?
Both are TikTok's own short link formats. vm.tiktok.com is the older share-sheet format and vt.tiktok.com is the newer one, and either one redirects to the full tiktok.com/@user/video/ or /photo/ address. Paste either short form straight into the box above. VideoCatch follows the redirect the same way a browser would before reading the post underneath.
Why did my TikTok link fail to load?
The most common reasons are a private account, a video the creator restricted, a deleted post, or a link copied with extra text attached from a chat app. Copy the link fresh from TikTok's own Share menu, or copy the full address from the browser bar, then paste it again. A public tiktok.com or short vm or vt link should resolve within seconds.
Which links work with the TikTok video downloader
Three link shapes work. A full video link looks like tiktok.com/@username/video/ followed by a long numeric id. A photo post uses the same pattern with /photo/ in place of /video/, and opens as a TikTok photo carousel of full-size images rather than a single clip. Both forms work with or without the www prefix, and tracking parameters after the question mark are ignored.
Short links resolve the same way. TikTok's share sheet hands out vm.tiktok.com or vt.tiktok.com links depending on the app version, and both are simply a redirect to the long form above. Paste the short link straight in, and VideoCatch follows it before reading the post, the same way a browser tab would if you tapped it yourself.
A link copied from inside the TikTok app, from a browser address bar, or from a chat where someone shared the post all work the same way, provided the post itself is public. Anything a signed-out visitor cannot open, such as a private account, a restricted video, or a deleted post, fails at the same point it would fail for anyone browsing without an account.
TikTok video downloader specs: length, resolution and the watermark rendition
TikTok publishes concrete numbers for what it accepts on upload, in its Content Posting API documentation for developers. Most accounts can post videos up to 3 minutes long, with 5-minute and 10-minute posting extended to some accounts. Accepted formats are MP4, MOV and WebM, encoded with H.264, H.265, VP8 or VP9, at 23 to 60 frames per second and a resolution between 360 and 4096 pixels on each side.
Those upload limits do not set what comes back from this tool: VideoCatch returns the file exactly as TikTok already stores and streams it, at whatever resolution, frame rate and length that particular post was saved at. A clip filmed for the vertical feed typically lands around 1080 by 1920 pixels; an older or re-encoded upload can come back smaller.
The watermark question comes down to which file TikTok's server hands back for a given post. TikTok's own app export stamps a watermark across the frame, and a separate rendition without one exists for many posts. VideoCatch returns that clean file whenever TikTok exposes it. When only the stamped version is available for a post, that is the file you get, since there is no visual-editing step here to lift a mark baked into the pixels.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Max video length | 3 minutes for most accounts; 5 or 10 minutes where TikTok has extended it |
| Accepted video formats | MP4 (recommended), MOV, WebM |
| Video codecs | H.264 (recommended), H.265, VP8, VP9 |
| Frame rate | 23 to 60 frames per second |
| Resolution range | 360 to 4096 pixels on each side |
| Max video file size | 4 GB per file |
| Max photo file size | 20 MB per image, JPEG or WebP |
| Watermark rendition vs. clean rendition | TikTok's app export stamps a watermark; VideoCatch returns the clean rendition when TikTok exposes one for that post |
Saving TikTok videos and photos on iPhone, Android and desktop
The download runs between your browser and TikTok's own content delivery network, so what happens after you press Download depends on your browser rather than on this site. Three platforms, three slightly different flows:
- iPhone and iPadTap Download. Safari usually opens the MP4 in its player rather than saving it, which is expected on iOS. Tap the Share icon, then Save Video, and the clip appears in Photos. On iOS 18 and later, long-press the playing video and choose Save to Photos instead.
- AndroidTap Download. Chrome saves the file to the Downloads folder and shows a notification; tap it and choose Share or Move to place the clip in Gallery. If Chrome opens the video in a tab instead, long-press it and choose Download video.
- DesktopClick Download and most browsers save the file right away. If yours opens the video in a new tab instead, right-click the Download link and choose Save link as. TikTok's filenames are long ids, so rename the file while saving it.
